The commercial trucking industry is about to go through some major regulatory changes over the next 20 years. With new technology, stricter environmental policies, and evolving safety standards, trucking companies must stay ahead of the curve.

The auto-hauling industry is facing massive changes. That’s a given. In part four of our series on the future of the auto-hauling industry, we cover the predicted shifts in auto-hauler equipment due to regulations, advancements in technology, and efficiency.

1.  Adapting to Larger, Heavier Vehicles

The number of SUVs and EVs is expected to grow dramatically in the next 10 years. Some estimates are SUVs, and EVs will comprise 50% of the vehicles on the road by 2030 (this includes SUVs that are EVs and vice versa). But SUVs and EVs weigh 10%-15% more than the average vehicle. The rise of SUVs, trucks, and EVs creates new challenges for auto haulers and the push for stronger and more adaptable equipment.
